Here we go! 05/23/2009

We're in a camp site in a village called Effelfechen (careful how you say that) near Lockerbie. We will head up to John O Groats today and then the JOGLE starts tomorrow.
I will post comments here and update each day on The Route pages and look out for comments and photos on Facebook.
Keep in touch, Gord.

Still no signal. 499 miles down and 501 to go!! Through Scotland and into England yesterday. Wales tomorrow - amazing! it's tough going after his two longest days (90 and 92 miles) and the achilles are more than nipping but today should be 'easier' with 'just' 75 miles to pedal! Kate, Luan and Evie are still with him (possibly until tomorrow) and Genny and John arrive today to be the support vehicle for next week. and the sun is shining!! though kate says he's getting a funny tan - shorts/helmet strap/fingerless gloves - nice! factor 50 needed! hopefully they'll get a signal tonight as they're staying on the driveway of a couple they met travelling up last saturday - true spirit of charity. more from gord later. Hi Gordon,

We shook hands as you set off, I had just arrived at John o' Groats from Land's End.

Well done so far - dig in as they say and you'll do it, just keep pedalling.

Our family keep thinking of you, especially as we know what you're going through.

Graeme.

683 Done!! Yesterday was an easier day - not as many hills! Gordon's doing really well and feeling like he's really on his way home now. Kate and the kids are back home and Genny and John are supporting him. Next destination - Monmouth - Cornwall is getting closer! Tiverton first and a stop over at Helen's on Thursday.
